What Does "Crushed Muffin" Mean, Anyway?
POSTED  4-JULY-2002

Hello, and welcome to my site. You may be wondering to yourself why in the world is this site named "Crushed Muffin". Does it have recipes using smashed breakfast food? Or you may be one of those accepting people who just don’t care why my site has such a silly name, with matching logo. If you are the former, an explanation follows, if you are the latter, you may want to just start exploring my site.

In the summer of 2001 I traveled with my husband, my sister, and a friend for 2 1/2 months all through Europe (check out my travel page {once it's up} if you want to know more/see pics).  Sounds great, doesn't it? Traveling from place to place, staying at campgrounds and youth hostels and seeing all the wonderful and historic things foreign countries have to offer. Silly looking money (mind, this was before the Euro was introduced) and lots of cool accents.

Well, sometimes the traveling bits got boring. You can only look at so much countryside through train windows. There is only so much you can say to people you see 24/7 until you start repeating yourself. There are only so many games of hearts you can play. In order to relieve some of the boredom that crept up on us, we invented games. One was to create band names out of things that were said or that we happened to see on our journey.

Well, we had bought muffins for breakfast one morning, you know, the kind that come individually wrapped in little plastic bags, anyway, someone didn't eat theirs and it got put in a backpack instead. Later that day, during our travels on the train, it was re-discovered in quite poor shape. "Does anyone want a crushed muffin?" Well, that was one of the first band names. A list follows:

  • Crushed Muffin
  • Running Nun
  • Nasty Blister
  • Dogs of Pompeii
  • Confused Rooster

We also came up with "Alison and the 12 year toast" as an album name, and "Death's Breakfast" as a song title.

Well, now you know a little bit about the origins of this site's name, and a little bit about me, Christy. Please feel free to have a look around the rest of my site, and WELCOME!
