New Years and All That Jazz
POSTED 2-JANUARY-2003

Business first:

Crushed Muffin.com will be off line beginning in mid-January due to our DSL provider no longer providing service. It will return once we have found a new DSL provider and we have our new IP address. While the site is down, I hope to re-visit and possibly change the design. Thanks for visiting, and see you on the flip side!

While my National Novel Writing Month story is now officially off-line, if you would like to read it, let me know, and I’ll tell you where you can find it / send it to you. If you would like to help me in the editing process (a bear!) let me know to, and you will also get kind words and thanks.

Now, on to the article:

Well, it is officially the new year, and this year I have decided to not have resolutions, but rather goals. In the past I would spend either Dec. 31st or Jan. 1st being a good little monkey and coming up with resolutions for the new year. I invariably picked resolutions on the same theme, exercise, keep in better contact with friends distant, write in a journal daily, clean my room, etc. It seems like I would be able to keep them for a little while, but would always trail off on them, and disappoint myself.

This year I am changing my tactic, and perhaps I will be able to improve myself over the course of new year, or at least be happy with what I accomplish. Along those lines I will not set strict guidelines, like I must exercise a certain way every day, with a schedule of what must happen when, or which days I set aside to write people, because once I miss the first one of those, it just falls apart. This year, I am setting goals, hopefully vague enough so that if I end up putting things off a bit, it won’t mess up my “schedule” but strong enough that I can actually accomplish them and feel good about it. With that, here it goes.

Goal 1: To write no less than 2000 words a week towards a creative project. My projects currently include (but are not limited to): My elfsblood story, my story for Brian, and the “never ending stories” on my website.

Goal 2: To continue to update and add to my website, preferably at least once a week.

Goal 3: To exercise in some way shape or form at least 3 days a week. This can include Choi-Kwang-Do, roller-blading, or even just taking a walk on my break.

Goal 4: To keep in better contact with my friends far distant, and e-mail each of them no less than 3 times during this year.

Goal 5: Stay involved in local theatre through auditions, volunteering to usher, or even just going to see plays.

Goal 6: Go through my closet in the study, clean and purge, by the end of the year.

Goal 7: Read. I know I can get this one done, as it is a favorite pastime of mine.
