Dinner at a Friends (bugs; eggplant; clean; die)

Clumps of mushy purple
Sit in front of me on my plate
“Who the hell came up with eggplant casserole”
I wonder
And I wonder why it was set before me
I scoop it off my plate
Into small clumps on the floor
Leaving my plate clean
So my host will never know I didn’t eat it.
Hopefully the bugs will crawl in the cracks on the pealing walls
And eat the garbage
And die
And leave the message to my host
Just how ridiculous the idea of eggplant casserole really is.
